“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” ~Ephesians 2:10
Foundation Principle 5: Believers reflect the unique design of our Creator.
Last post we discussed how our God-given purpose is lived out through holistic living. In the creation account found in Genesis 1 we witness God painting the blank canvas of the void universe, filling it with light, the heavens, plants, animals and humankind. Throughout creation we see how much attention is given to details and design, all serving the purpose of reflecting their Creator. As Psalm 19:1 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.”
As Scripture tells us, we become “a new creation” when we accept His invitation of eternal life. It’s as if we now have God’s “thumbprint”– His recognizable image or pattern on all that we do. As creative artists we also have the unique calling of revealing God’s imagination, creativity and character in all our creative endeavors. Ultimately, God desires that we share with others what it means to be made in the image and likeness of our Creator.
As we move forward to fulfill God’s purpose in our lives, let’s always remember that we are “image-bearers,” called to serve and create, always bearing the mark of Our Creator in all that we do.
What aspects of your life reflect the unique “thumbprint” of your Creator?
How does God’s creativity impact your creative endeavors?
